We examine modern modelling approaches for multiphase flows in porous media. We analyse mathematical challenges in numerical simulations of flows in porous media under critical thermodynamic conditions. We propose enthalpy instead of temperature as a primary simulation variable for effective simulations of the flows under critical conditions.
