Free transverse oscillations of elastic beams with locally concentrated inhomogeneities

The eigenvalue problem for the fourth-order differential equation simulating the free transverse oscillations of a strongly inhomogeneous elastic beam is studied numerically and analytically. The lowest modes of oscillations that are of interest in applications are sought.
