An optical coating design algorithm based on the theory of equivalent layers

A new optical coating design algorithm using the theory of equivalent layers is proposed. The algorithm is based on the merit function constrained optimization in the accessible domain of equivalent phase thicknesses and equivalent refractive indices. It enables designing coatings with sophisticated narrow-band spectral characteristics.
