The secondary relaxation transitions and local dynamics in poly(acrylonitrile) and poly(vinylchloride) have been studied by conformational probes method. The effective sizes of mobile free volume entities have been determined. The correlation of the gas separation factor of oxygen and nitrogen with the mobile free volume entities in poly(acrylonitrile), poly(vinylchloride) and some other glassy polymers has been established.
Keywords: secondary relaxation transitions, local dynamics, free volume, IR-spectroscopy, glassy polymers.
