Wavefront reversal of sound on the surface of a liquid crystal

In this work, for the first time, the effect of wavefront reversal of sound at the interface between a nematic liquid crystal (NLC) and air has been registered and experimentally studied. An increase in the intensity of reversed sound near the thermodynamic phase transition point (NLC–isotropic liquid) was experimentally established as compared to the regions of the highest phase stability.
