The structure of equivariant cohomology behind recently developed localizationschemes is discussed. A description of equivariant cohomology in terms of two nilpotent operators is developed. Various geometric quantum actions are shown to arise as momentum maps of group actions on the loop space. The arising equivariant BRST symmetry can be used to localize the path integral.
