Elimination of~gauge degrees of~freedom in~the generalized Hamiltonian formalism

A method is presented for constructing generators of gauge transformations in phase space for a given singular Lagrangian. Necessary and sufficient conditions on gauge functions are formulated on the basis of these generators. The results obtained are analysed with the help of concrete examples.
