Properties of the three-dimensional wave function of heavy ions relative motion in an elastic channel are analysed for finite distances in the short wave-length limit. For near-barrier energies the sharp increase of the wave function amplitude in the neighbourhood of a cusp leads to the space localisation of inelastic processes with longdistance formfactors.
