A method is proposed for determining the ground-state symmetry superalgebra in Kaluza–Klein models. It is used to construct and investigate solutions of 11-dimensional supergravity with the sphere $S^7$ as internal manifold. The possible supersymmetry numbers for an arbitrary internal manifold are found.
