Diagram technique in field theory at finite temperature

A diagram technique is proposed for calculating the free energy and effective potential
in relativistic field theory at finite temperature. It is similar to but differs from the
real-time formalism of Dolan and Jackiw, which, as will be shown, contains redundant
diagrams. The technique is most convenient for systematic low-temperature expansion.
