Schwinger's source theory is used to develop a method for obtaining equations for the
total Green's functions of electrodynamies whose exact and approximate solutions are
free of unphysical singularities; the approximate solutions are analytic in the coupling
constant. A space-time picture is given of the contributions of virtual and real
processes to the total Green's functions. A detailed comparison is made with the
equations of quantum field theory.
