Structure of the ground state in the modified Schwinger model

It is shown that the introduction of scalar fields into the Schwinger model preserves the nontrivial structure of the vacuum with respect to the ehiral number. An exact solution is obtained for the simple model in which the scalar fields significantly change the original vacuum of the Schwinger model.
