Microscopic theory of hydrodynamic and kinetic processes in nematic liquid crystals
is developed on the basis of Zubarev's nonequilibrium distribution function. In addition to the usual hydrodynamic description, the theory includes as well the statistical
description of the finite orientational deformation and the relaxation of orientational
ordering.
