A finite boson representation is obtained for fermion operators for a Hamiltonian with pairing forces in a system consisting of two species of nucleon. A collective Hamiltonian that describes pairing excitations is constructed. The case of strong pairing correlations is analyzed; for this case basis functions are found that are suitable for expanding the exact solution.
