The Wigner–Eckart theorem and covariant operators

We study matrix elements that depend on functions in the Schwartz space of operators that are covariant with respect to a group (operators of the type of scalar field operators). We show that the matrix elements of such operators can be factorized in a weak sense into the Clebsch–Gordan coefficients of the group and reduced matrix elements.
