On one basic half-plane elasticity solution

The stress distribution in a half-plane loaded by uniform pressure over half of its straight edge is given in elasticity books, such as Timoshenko and Goodier [l], and is obtained by specializing the solution of an appropriate wedge problem, or by integration using the Flamant concentrated force solution. An alternative stress distribution is derived in this paper and compared with the existing well-known solution.
