A note on the Ritz approach to the extremal curves

Approximation of extremals by the Ritz method is considered. The corresponding extremals belong to the class $\mathbf D_1$, $\mathbf D_2$ or $\mathbf D_3$. Approximative lines of classes $\mathbf D_1$ are used for solving problems.
