In this article the connection between transcendents of Penleve and evolution equations is discussed. An approximate method of building transcendents of Penleve of first and second order by means of the general power series with unknown coefficients is established. This method is then applied to study the Korteweg-de Vries equations and its modifications which describe the interaction of waves in the water and soliton processes in the plasma.
