The paper solves the problem of diffraction of shear waves incident normally on a solid strip located at the interface between two different elastic half-spaces. The problem is reduced to solving a dual integral equation. An approximate solution of the dual integral equation was obtained by reducing it to the Fredholm integral equation of the second kind. The solution was used to calculate the stress intensity factor at the strip edge.
