Abstract scattering scheme of Lax and Phillips in Pontryagin spaces

The abstract scattering scheme of Lax and Phillips is generalized to the case of Pontryagin spaces. The structures of incoming and outgoing subspaces are studied. The connections between the behaviour of the scattering matrix and the properties of a certain $\pi$-contraction operator (the cogenerator of the associated semigroup) and its characteristic function are established.
