Dalla `tardiva' fondazione sotto gli auspici del Conseil International de Recherches nel primo dopoguerra fino alla seconda guerra mondiale, la storia del primo ventennio di vita dell'UMI si intreccia da un lato con le vicende delle istituzioni internazionali che, negli anni Venti, hanno avuto in Pincherle uno dei protagonisti, dall'altro col ventennio della dittatura fascista che, a livello politico istituzionale, ha scandito la vita dell'Unione e dei suoi organismi dirigenti.
From the `late' foundation under the auspices of the Conseil International de Recherches in the first post-war period up to the Second World War, the history of the first two decades of the UMI's life is intertwined, on the one hand, with the events of the international institutions that, in the 1920s, had Pincherle as one of their protagonists, and, on the other hand, with the two decades of the Fascist dictatorship that, at the institutional political level, marked the life of the Union and its governing bodies.
