From the `late' foundation under the auspices of the Conseil International de Recherches in the first post-war period up to the Second World War, the history of the first two decades of the UMI's life is intertwined, on the one hand, with the events of the international institutions that, in the 1920s, had Pincherle as one of their protagonists, and, on the other hand, with the two decades of the Fascist dictatorship that, at the institutional political level, marked the life of the Union and its governing bodies.
