This year, 80 years have passed since the promulgation of racial laws by the fascist regime. Unfortunately, on that occasion, precisely on December 10, 1938, the Scientific Commission of the Italian Mathematical Union (UMI) approved an unjustifiable statement from every point of view, human, civil, political and scientific. In these pages, which follow the editorial published in the UMI Newsletter of February 2018, we remember the mathematicians then purged, hoping that such a horror will never be repeated.
