The present paper unfolds in two parts: in the first one, a short biographical profile of Schröder (1841-1902) is offered; in the second one, the structure and the content of Schröder's On the Formal Elements of Absolute Algebra (1874) are reviewed, casting light on some point deserving interest. Aim of this second part is to stress the meta-mathematical features of the text under issue.
