Hundred and fifty years ago, the professional organization the Union of Czech Mathematicians and Physicists (Jednota českých matematiků a fyziků) was established. As one of its initial activities, the Union published a professional periodical called Časopis pro pěstování matematiky a fyziky, out of which the journal Rozhledy matematicko-fyzikální was singled ninety years ago. Therefore, this year, we celebrate an important anniversary of this journal as well. The article describes the birth of the journal Rozhledy matematicko-fyzikální and the first years of its life.
