From submerged cultures of a strain of Claviceps purpurea (Fr) (IC/39/20) are isolated nine alkaloids: four of clavine type (chanoclavine I, isochanoclavine I, elymoclavine and agroclavine) and five of ergot-peptide type (ergotamine, ergocornine, ergotaminine, ergocryptine and ergocryptinine). Their kr-kb values obtained by countercurrent separation are given. Their ORD curves and NMR and mass spectra are examined.
