The chromaffine reaction is positive in Rana esculenta at the end of premetamorphic period, while the iodate reaction appears only during prometamorphic period. In Bufo bufo, instead, both these reactions appear later: the chromaffin during the prometamorphic stages and the iodate reaction at the end of metamorphosis.
