2-Brmethyl-3,4-diacetyl-5-methylfurane crystals are monoclinic, space group P21/c, with the following lattice parameters: $a = 15.351 \pm 0.005$ Å, $b = 8.416 \pm 0.016$ Å, $c = 8.173 \pm 0.016$ Å, $\beta = 99°20' \pm 7'$. The structure was determined from a three-dimensional Patterson function computed with Weissenberg data and refined by successive Fourier syntheses and least square method. The final R value is 0.12 for 699 observed reflections. The heterocyclic ring is planar and bond distances and angles are in agreement with those reported by other authors. The bromine atom, as well as the oxygen atoms and the CH3 groups of the two acetyls, are out of the ring plane.
