Résumé

1) Embryos of Bufo bufo were operated as follows: A) cordoectomized at the stage of open neural folds; B) stripped of the external layer of the neural plate, at the stages of neural plate, open neural folds and rotational movement; C) treated with molar solutions of NaSCN from the stage of fertilized egg to open neural folds. 2) The result of the three different experimental techniques is that, in comparison with the control animals of the same age, some of the operated animals appear to be less developed and shorter; their gut is short and its development has stopped at an embryonal condition. This arrest in the intestinal morphogenesis is mainly to be related with the arrest of the linear and volumetric growth of the whole body of the animal. 3) Not with standing the arrest of the intestinal morphogenesis, the mitotic activity of the cells persists in the mucous layer, which folds repeatedly in the intestinal lumen since it cannot extend in length in the shortened gut. It is not to be excluded that the difference between the morphogenesis and the histogenesis observed in the operated animals might also be due to other factors, such as the different growth of the splancnopleuric sheath and the alterations of the idrostatic endointestinal and coelomic pressure.
