In quest'articolo è analizzato il romanzo dello scrittore italo-americano Don DeLillo, situandolo nell'ambito dell'immigrazione europea della costa est e mettendo in evidenza le relazioni fra l'eredità italiana e i contributi della realtà americana. Si confronta poi la visione letteraria della matematica di Don DeLillo con quella di matematici “reali” come De Giorgi e Volterra.
This article is an analysis of Don DeLillo's novel Ratner's Star. Its aim is to place the book against the background of European immigration to the East Coast and to underline the connections between an Italian legacy and aspects of American society. The article also compares DeLillo's literary perspective of mathematics with that of “real” mathematicians such as De Giorgi and Volterra.
