In this paper we propose an approach to the presentation of Mathematics, apparently not very common, that uses in various ways narrative literature. This approach is illustrated in detail by examining directly some passages from Herodotus, Archimedes, Quintilian and R. Guénon. In particular, a special emphasis is placed on Quintilian's contribution, of great effectiveness from the viewpoint of mathematical pedagogy, that may be regarded, in a broad sense, as an admirable lesson of geometry.
