We the main results concerning the properties of the lattice of subautomata of an automaton. We characterize certain significant types of elements and the center of that lattice and describe its direct sum decompositions. We also show how the properties of this lattice can be used in studying of direct sum decompositions of an automaton, and finally, we treat the problem of representation of lattices as lattices of subautomata of certain types of automata.
