WireGuard protocol with GOST cipher suites

In the paper, we consider WireGuard VPN protocol instantiated with GOST cipher suites. The motivation for this work emerges from the rising use of WireGuard protocol in cloud and distributed solutions adopted in Russia. We retrospectively describe our project considering the choice of GOST primitives, alternative solutions, some aspects of implementation, the results of our work, and directions for future research. The resulting specification and reference implementation could be used as a starting point for the development of recommendations for WireGuard protocol implemented with GOST cipher suites.
