Star maps digitization and connection with data bases

First results of aplication of geographical information systems (GIS) in astronomy are presented. Complete digitalization of specific cartographic material – star maps is performed. The next steps are done: scanning of cartographic material, managing metadata, removing deformations of scanned material, transferring data from scanned material into specific spatial data base, and, at the end, connection recognized celestial objects to astronomical and bibliographical data bases existing on the internet.
