A Four-Dimensional Simple Algebra with Fractional PI-Exponent

Numerical characteristics of identities of finite-dimensional nonassociative algebras are studied. The main result is the construction of a four-dimensional simple unitary algebra with fractional PI-exponent strictly smaller than its dimension.
