On supersonic viscous flows during jettisoning of launch vehicle stages

This paper devoted to numerical simulation flow fields during throwing away stages of multi-stage rocket. The stages are jettisoned when the propellants are exhausted. Very important problem is the aerodynamic interference between the stages. Unsteady process of separation considered as quasisteady. The methods of numerical modeling are developed in case of “weak” interaction of main body and rocket stages. The mathematical problem is studied in framework of Euler and boundary layer equations. The results as heat transfer, skin friction and pressure distribution on main and second stages of rocket are presented for different scenarios of throwing away.
