Within the framework of the coupled system of Korteveg de Vries and sinus-Gordon equations there has been developed a mathematical model of the full Fermi–Pasta–Ulam recurrence during which an energy exchange takes place between low and high frequency modes. Jt differs from the canonical Fermi–Pasta–Ulame recurrence under which the regrouping of energy is observed only within a few low frequency modes.
