It is necessary to solve Schrödinger equation repeatedly when calculating the equation of state, photon absorption coefficients and opacity over wide range of densities and temperatures [1]. As a result the efficiency of the iteration procedure for obtaining the atomic self-consistent potentials depends mainly on efficiency of the method for solving the eigenvalue problem for Schrodinger equation. There are no principal difficulties to solve this problem [2], [3] but accumulated experience in using the phase method allowed to construct special version of the algorithm which converges after 2–3 iterations.
