A brief survey of mathematical modelling for estuarine and coastal researches and its development tendencies is presented. As it is noted, 3D models are used more widely, their numerical methods level is constantly growing, whereas the general tendency is the greater number of projects is multipurpose. The survey is based on the materials of 2nd and 3rd conferences “Estuarine and Coastal Modelling” (Tampa, Florida, 1992 and Oak Brook, Illinois, 1993).
