Non-local optimization method for multilayer optical systems

Efficient non-local optimisation of multilayer optical systems based on needle-like variations of the refractive index with the accuracy up to second order with respect to thickness of the needle-like variations is considered. Numerical examples of the solutions of practical problems are presented.
