Autowave phenomena and dissipative structures on the surface of platinum catalyst in the reaction $\mathrm{NO}+\mathrm{CO}$. Results of computational experiment

The article is devoted to mathematical modeling of selforganization phenomena (dissipative structures, reverberators, leading centres) in heterogeneous catalitic reaction $\mathrm{NO}+\mathrm{CO}$, which is important from ecological point of view in connection with the problem of complete burning of highly toxical products of work of internal-combustion engines. A system of nonlinear partial differential equations of reaction-diffusion type forms the basis of the twodimensional macroscopic model. By means of numerical modeling nonequilibrium phase transformations from spatially uniform state to oscillations and from spatially uniform state to autowaves and then to dissipative structures are studied. The computational experiment is carried out using a specially developed code complex “Persephone”. It is shown that the most reaction-able phase is at the same time the most stable one.
