Equation of state of xenon in the solid and liquid phases was derived. To check it we investigated the shock adiabat of liquid xenon up to 70 GPa. We measured the brightness temperature of the front and electrical conductivity behind the front of the shock wave. Using the gamma-graphic method quasi-isentropic compression of liquid xenon was measured up to 13 g/cm${}^3$. An anomaly in behaviour of xenon was observed at $\rho=8{,}37$ g/cm${}^3$ which is due to a structural transition.
