The process of radiative excitation of electromagnetic fields in the air, the density of wich depends on height, is considered in the self-consistent two-dimensional model. The constructed numerical method provides simultaneous integration of the two-dimensional nonstationary Maxwell equations, the equations of motion of Compton electron flux in generated electric field and the balance equation of conduction electrons. The method in question allows calculating electromagnetic fields generated by a nonstationary gamma-ray source in the air.
