This is our personal account of Vasil Popov – a distinguished Bulgarian mathematician who have made major contributions to Approximation theory. Even 32 years after his death we still vividly remember Vasil from the good old times, especially when over a mug of beer we recall some events from our youth with Vasil – memories, which we so much cherish. In this short note we would like to recall the main point in Vasil Popov’s life and career as well as to share some of our personal memories of Vasil. Тези редове отразяват нашето лично виждане за наследството на Васил Попов – изтъкнат български математик със значими приноси към теорията на апроксимациите. Дори 32 години след смъртта му все още си спомняме ярко Васил от доброто старо време, особено когато на халба бира си припомняме случки от младостта ни с Васил – спомени, които толкова много ценим. В тази кратка бележка бихме искали да припомним основни моменти от живота и кариерата на Васил Попов, както и да споделим някои от личните си спомени за него.
