The physical meaning of the heterogeneity parameter $h$ of the structure of the polymer melt is determined: it is a linear function of the fraction of the macromolecular coil that is preserved during the thermal-oxidative destruction of the melt. The dependence of $h$ on two dimensions is obtained: the fractal dimension of the macromolecular coil and the dimension of Euclidean space.
