Boundary layers for transmission problems with singularities

We study two-dimensional transmission problems for the Laplace operator for two diffusion coefficients. We describe the boundary layers of this problem and show that the layers appear only in the part where the coefficient is large. The relationship with the singularities of the limit problem is also described.
