A global factorization theorem for the ZS-AKNS system

Summary: We prove a global Birkhoff factorization theorem for general loops with finite poles in the ZS-AKNS hierarchy (Zakharov-Shabat-Ablowitz-Kaup-Newell-Segur). We use the inverse scattering method.
