The Sombor index $(SO)$ is a vertex--degree--based graph invariant, invented in the Summer of 2020, and made publicly available in early 2021. In less than one year, a remarkable number (almost fifty) research papers on this topological index were produced. In the present article, we summarize the results achieved so far, and offer a few more.
