Résumé

The article is a overview and evaluation of Kazakhstan’s tourism assets. It also describes the attempts to make practical use of those by Polish tour operators to this country. Its main purpose is to present dysjunctions between having a great natural and cultural potential of the country and economic problems hampering the development of tourism in this country. This problem was presented based on the literature of the subject, analysis of materials collected in Kazakh tourist centers, interviews and direct observation of the quality of tourism infrastructure and service for tourists. They show that Kazakhstan has a variety of natural and anthropogenic values. However, the country lacks a developed tourism services sector. Tourist infrastructure in the country is uneven and rather poorly developed, its use is usually seasonal, but the level of service for foreign tourists is satisfactory. Arrivals of organized groups of tourists from Poland are sporadic. The routes of visiting Kazakhstan through Polish groups usually lead from Astana to the south of the country – to Shymkent, Turkestan and Almaty – favored by local air and rail connections.
