The main result of [2] (C. Ciliberto, G. van der Geer: Andreotti-Mayer Loci and the Schottky problem. Documenta Math. 13 (2008), 389–440) is based on a proposition whose proof is incorrect. We therefore give an alternative proof of the main result of [2].
