We give some rather weak sufficient condition for $L^p$ boundedness of the Marcinkiewicz integral operator $\mu _{\mit \Omega } $ on the product spaces ${\mathbb R}^n\times {\mathbb R}^m$
($1 p \infty $), which improves and extends some known results.
